Sonal Shah is a cross‑sector leader and institution builder whose career spans government, business, philanthropy, and media. As the former CEO of The Texas Tribune, she expanded its impact as a trusted news source and championed new approaches to local journalism and community engagement.
Her previous roles include leading global development at Google.org, serving in the Obama White House and U.S. Treasury, and working at Goldman Sachs. She founded Georgetown’s Beeck Center and The Asian American Foundation (TAAF).
Sonal focuses on building institutions that strengthen communities, with local journalism at the heart of civic trust and democratic participation. She is Board Chair of Consumer Reports and advises leaders across sectors on strategy and governance.
